Curriculum Vitae Captain
Paul Myers
| Aviation Experience: Capt.
Myers learned to fly at 16 years of age. At 19 he was hired as a corporate pilot for J-G Bosewll Co., the world’s
largest farm corporation. Two years later, he was hired by Aerojet - General Corporation as a pilot on heavy twin- engine
aircraft. In 1963 Capt. Myers became a pilot for United Airlines. His experience included flight engineer on the
DC-6, DC-7 and DC-8. He flew as copilot on the B-720 and DC-10 aircraft. In 1979 he was promoted to captain on
the B-727. He also flew as captain on the B-767 and B-757 aircraft. In 1990 Capt. Myers transitioned to the B-747,
flying all models of the aircraft. After a little over 36 years with United Airlines, he retired off the B-747-400.
The last eleven years with United was as an international captain. During his years with United, Capt. Myers was also
active as a general aviation pilot, owning three different aircraft. His flying experience covers all types of aircraft,
from the Piper J3 Cub to WWII war birds. | | | Aviation Safety: Early in
his career with United Airlines, Capt. Myers became very interested in the science of aviation safety. He served for
over 15 years in various safety capacities for the Airline Pilot’s Association. These included: air traffic
control coordinator, safety representative for the B-767, B-757, B-747 aircraft, and Pacific safety officer.
In 1989, as a Captain on the B-767, he was selected to represent the Airline Pilots Association, as the coordinator for the
development of the use of twin-engine jet aircraft over extended water operations, (known as ETOPS). Capt. Myers worked
closely with the FAA, industry and pilot associations for over a year to open this new arena of commercial aviation.
Most of the regulations that he helped put in place are still in use. He was recognized by the Airline Pilots Association
with an award for outstanding achievement in aviation safety. Capt. Myers completed the FAA accident investigation school
and was active in the investigation of one major air carrier accident. | | | Law Enforcement: Having majored in criminology in college, Capt. Myers has
had an ongoing interest in Law enforcement. In 1960, he graduated from the Los Angeles Police Academy. He served
as a full-time police officer until 1963 in southeast Los Angeles (commonly known as Watts). During the 1970’s,
he worked seven years as a part-time police officer for the city of San Clemente, CA, where he also served as the self-defense
instructor. In 1979, while living in the Rocky Mountains, west of Ft. Collens, CO, he served nine years as a part-time
deputy sheriff for the Larimer County Sheriff’s department. Captain Myers was responsible for law enforcement
in a 240 square mile area. This included training and involvement in wildland fire fighting. Later, Capt. Myers served
six years on the police commission for the city of Windsor, CA; three of which he was chairman. | | | Awards and Honors: Outstanding Achievement award, Airline Pilots Association

Myers and his wife live in Bellingham, WA. He is active as a volunteer for the Heritage Flight Museum, and acts as their
tour coordinator. Capt. Myers is an avid boater and works part-time as a licensed captain for a local yacht charter
company. He enjoys physical fitness activities and skiing. |
